Meet The Chef

From Culinary Roots to Catering Success

Lonnie Allen is a culinary force to be reckoned with. His journey from humble beginnings in his grandparent's restaurant to becoming a renowned chef and owner of his own catering business is a testament to his unwavering passion and dedication to the Art of Culinary. In the world of culinary excellence, Lonnie Allen stands out as a true master of his craft. As the Executive Chef and Owner of Floodgates Catering™ & Food Services, Lonnie has carved a niche for himself in the world of gourmet cuisine. But his journey to culinary success began long before he ever stepped foot in a professional kitchen.

Lonnie's passion for cooking started in his early years, when he would spend hours helping out in his grandparent's local restaurant. It was there that he first discovered the magic of food and developed a deep appreciation for the art of culinary. Little did he know that this childhood experience would shape his future in ways he could never have imagined.


He honed his craft through various positions, starting as a sous-chef at the prestigious Marriott of Charlotte. It was here that he learned the ins and outs of high-end cuisine, working alongside some of the best chefs in the industry.

His culinary journey took him further, as he served as a sous-chef at Chateau, a renowned four-star French restaurant. This experience allowed him to delve into the intricacies of French cuisine, mastering the delicate balance of flavors and techniques that make this style of cooking so exceptional. But Lonnie's ambitions didn't stop there. He went on to work as a sous-chef at Frank Manzetti's, where he further refined his skills and expanded his culinary repertoire. 

After years of gaining invaluable experience in various professional kitchens, Lonnie found his calling at the First Baptist Church of Charlotte. As the Chef de Cuisine & Food Service Director, he has been leading the culinary team for over 15 years, creating memorable dining experiences for the congregation and guests alike.

But Lonnie's talents extend beyond the kitchen. In his spare time, he enjoys ministering to others as an ordained minister. When he's not busy transforming ingredients into culinary masterpieces Lonnie can be found spending quality time with his family or indulging in his favorite pastime - fishing.
